Leonard Ray Greene was born on April 4, 1946, the seventh of ten children born to Pearlie and Perry Greene of Haynesville, AL.  Leonard departed this life on Friday, September 5, 2025 at the age of 79.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Pearlie Greene, five brothers, two sisters and his stepdaughter, Brenda Faye Richards.

Leonard attended elementary and high school at Carter G. Woodson in Haynesville, LA graduating with his senior class in 1965.   Upon graduating high school he moved to Houston, Texas, as had his brothers and sisters, and started working.  Early on he worked for the Methodist Hospital, a local glass company and later began a career as a long-distance commercial driver for Mrs. Baird's bakery and retired from the Men's warehouse.  After retiring he became a crossing guard for HISD and remained in the district's employment until his passing.  He loved football – the Kansas City Chiefs was his favorite team.  He enjoyed watching baseball, attending his high school reunions in Haynesville and attending the Haynesville Golden Tornadoes Hish School football games.  He also enjoyed watching old westerns.

He leaves behind his wife, Ella Greene of 51 years, sister, Helen Jane Greene, brother, Glenn D. Greene (Gracie), sister-in-law, Daisy Greene, bonus daughter, Dell Gloria Wareen, son-in-law, Cornell Warren, bonus grandson, Joseph , Hadley and Lance nieces nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins residing in California, Houston and Louisiana along with a host of friends.
