Obituary

Leslie Lorraine Jefferson-Skinner was born on November 24, 1952, to the late Lorreal Wesley Sampson and the late Hazel Jenkins Jefferson in Houston, Texas. She was educated in the Houston Independent School District and proudly graduated from Jack Yates High School.

Leslie was united in marriage to the late Leroy Skinner, and from their union, they were blessed with one beloved son, Dominic Skinner.

Affectionately known by many as a mother figure, Leslie had a vibrant spirit and was always quick to share her honest opinion. Her warm heart, infectious laughter, and vibrant personality left an impression on everyone she encountered. She was a source of love, strength, and guidance for not only her family but also for countless others whose lives she touched.

A devoted member of Living Faith Baptist Church, Leslie faithfully served under Pastor Rickey G. King. Her dedication to her church community remained strong throughout the years until the Lord called her home.

Professionally, Leslie was a committed and hardworking member of the Walmart Supercenter team for 25 years. She began her career in September 1989 as a Customer Service Manager and later served as the Tire, Lube, and Express Manager. She retired in 2014, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and reliability.

In her leisure time, Leslie enjoyed the companionship of her cherished dogs—Bruno, Olivia, and Smokey—and found true joy in spending time with her family. Her home was a place of love, laughter, and uplifting energy that drew people in and made them feel welcome.

On June 5, 2025, Leslie Lorraine Jefferson-Skinner peacefully departed this life. She was preceded in death by her loving mother Hazel Jenkins Jefferson, her father Lorreal Wesley Sampson, her devoted husband Leroy Skinner and her sister Sheraldine Watkins.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Dominic Skinner; her sister, Shirley Jones; her brother, Wesley Jefferson; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and all those who were blessed to know her.

Leslie's light will continue to shine through the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
