Obituary

Lillian Wilson Hicks passed away on November 13, 2025 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. Lillian was born on February 15, 1936 to Katie Mae and Alfred Lee Perry in Centerville, Texas. During her infancy, the family moved to Houston. She attended Bruce and Atherton Elementary Schools and graduated from E.O. Smith High School. She met and married Leodis Wilson. To this union, two children were born; Darrell Wilson and Jacqueline Wilson.  Later they were blessed with another son, Ron Christopher Wilson.

Lillian and Leodis owned and operated a very successful liquor store for many years. Lillian also worked as a dispatcher for Sears for several years nearing retirement. After Leodis passed away, Lillian married Andrew Hicks. They were happily married until his death. She was a member of Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church, and attended faithfully until her health began to decline.

Lillian loved flowers, indoors and out. She was an excellent cook and really enjoyed preparing large meals to share with friends and family, especially during holidays. She loved hunting and usually got at least one deer a year, sometimes, two! She was an animal lover; dogs and cats. But her greatest love was of horses! She was an avid rider who thoroughly enjoyed her horses. She loved trail riding, barn dances, line dancing, camping out in her RV and just hanging out around a camp fire with her friends. She was a member of the Silver Saddle Brigade, a trail riding club which is a part of the Southwest Trail Riding Organization. She was active in the Houston Livestock & Rodeo, and especially enjoyed participating in the downtown parade every year.

Lillian is preceded in death by her parents (Alfred and Katie Perry), her husbands (Leodis Wilson and Andrew Hicks), her two children (Darrell and Jackie), one grandson (Darrell Wilson Jr.), one brother (Maurice Perry) and one sister (Avenell Brown. She is survived by her son, Ron Christopher Wilson (Tanya), daughter-in-law, Fayetta Wilson; four grandchildren; Crystal Wilson, Christopher Wilson (Ronetra), Demetrius Watson (Mekessa) and Lashunda Renee Wilson (Mark); ten great grandchildren, Madison, McKenzie, Kodi, Kyle, Christopher Jr., Chance, Lynishia, Danecia, Darrenica Vantirce and Aaron Jr.; three great great grandchildren, Lundynn, Levi, and Sincere; one brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Levi Perry (Eula) and one sister, Hazel Taylor. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends to cherish her memory.

Lillian will be sadly missed from our daily lives, but she will live in our hearts forever.
