On March 6, 1932, parents Lemuel and Irene James were presented with a beautiful gift from God, Lillie Verta James in Waelder, Texas.

Sister Preston attended Jack Yates High School in Houston, Texas, after graduation, she was employed by Wexner Department Store, and Sakowitz Department Store; lastly as Wesley A.M.E. Church receptionist.

In 1953 Lillie married the love of her life, David Daniel Preston Sr.  To this union two children were born; Janet Marie Preston and David Daniel Preston Jr, in addition to the family daughter Wendy Marie Flowers Taylor

Sister Preston united with Wesley Chapel A.M.E. church under the pastorage of Rev E.E. Coates.  She was active member of Wesley, serving on the Sunday School staff as Director of the Nursery; member of the Women's Missionary Society; coordinating kitchen duties on special occasions and members of the Young at Heart Club.

Sister Preston was preceded in death by her husband David Sr, grandson David  (Trey), bother Wendell James, sisters Marilyn James Flowers, Pearline James Scott, Arnecia James, and Faye James Berkley.

On September 7, 2025 Sister Preston transitioned into eternal rest.  She leaves to cherish her loving, kind memory, her devoted daughters Janet Marie Castillo, (Don) Wendy Marie Flowers (Lynn), son David Daniel Preston Jr, sister Ollie Nelms, great grandson Quijuan Preston, grandchildren Herchel Preston, Lanetta Preston nephews Wendell James, Kevin Nelms, nieces Florence Brown, Billie Palmer, Wanda Idah, Winfred Flowers, Jeanie Blair and her Wesley A.M.E Church family.

There comes a time for all of us when we need must say goodbye, but faith, hope, love and trust can never die.
