Lilly Lynn
Lennear
Jun 1, 1950 — Jan 1, 2024
Lilly Lindsey Russell-Peoples-Reed-Lennear, 73, embarked on an exhilarating journey into the new year, bidding farewell to this world on January 1, 2024. Born on June 1, 1950, in Mansfield, LA, to Mary Lee Russell and Harold Peoples Jr., Lilly's life was a vibrant tapestry of rich experiences.
From Mansfield, LA, she ventured to Houston, TX, achieving the milestone of graduating from the Air Force Academy. Her professional journey led to fulfilling careers at Houston Area Galveston Council (HGAC) of Houston, TX and IBM in Clear Lake, TX, where she eventually retired.
Lilly leaves behind a legacy, survived by her devoted husband, Sammie Lennear of Houston, TX, and her four loving children: Sherry Peoples-Banks (William) of Sugar Land, TX; James Reed (Demeatra) of Pearland, TX; Demetria Reed-McNeal (Victor) of Houston, TX; and Arnetta Reed-Davis-Flowers (Emiel) of Houston, TX. She also embraced four step-children: Regina Cooper (Greg) of California, Anthony Lennear (Holly) of California, Carl Lennear of California, and Tammy Sambrano of Mississippi.
Her impact extends beyond, touching the lives of ten grandchildren—Sharia Swafford (Louis), Mark Johnson, Jr. (Makayla), Jeremiah Horton, Jr. (Johanna), Jeremy Horton (Alicia), Jermira Horton (Elijah), Jamelia Reed, Kristian Reed, Darius McNeal, Deshawn McNeal, and Mark Davis Jr.—as well as eleven great-grandchildren: Louis Swafford, III, Lou'Shaun Swafford, LaMya Swafford, London Johnson, Prince Johnson, Neveyah Horton, Abigail Horton, Jeremiah Horton, III, Charlotte Horton, Elijah Brown, Jr., and Malachi Brown.
Lilly's life story is further enriched by her six siblings. While one preceded her in death, her surviving brothers, Pete Russell Sr. (Elaine) of Atlanta, GA; Loyd Brantley of Houston, TX; Joel Brantley (Rhenette) of Houston, TX; John Brantley of Houston, TX, and sisters Lethia Robertson of Houston, Linda Sue Peoples-Claiborne (Douglas) of Mansfield, LA, and Patsy Ann Gibson of California continue to cherish the memories shared with her.
Celebrating her vibrant existence, we honor the enduring spirit of this remarkable, loving, and giving woman. Lilly's legacy will resound through the generations to come, and she will be deeply missed by all who were touched by her warmth and grace.
