Linda Faye Sherman

Linda Faye, affectionately called “Lynn” was born October 6, 1950 in Pineville, La. to Morris and Annie Bell Sherman. She attended Winn Parish Public School and graduated in 1968 from Pinecrest High School in Winnfield, La. Immediately after graduation she joined the Job Corp and served for two years.

Seeking better career opportunities, Linda Faye moved to Houston in 1970 joining her mother, Annie Bell and sister, Jean. Upon her arrival in Houston, she landed a job with Memorial Hermann Hospital which set her on a path to a long and prosperous career. Her hard work, determination and commitment permitted her to advance thru the ranks ultimately leading to the promotion of Executive Director of the Mail Room. She retired from Memorial Hermann after forty-four years of dedicated service.

Linda Faye accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. After moving to Houston, she united with Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Later she united with New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Theodore Devers. She remained an active member under Pastor Benjamin Price until her health began to decline.

Linda loved spending time with family and friends. These gatherings always included good music and good food. Her signature deviled eggs were always included on the menu. She and Annie Bell once prepared twelve dozen for a family event. On every occasion, big or small, Lynn remained true to herself. She always said what she meant, and meant what she said.

Linda Faye departed this life on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris Sherman and Annie Bell Jones; grandparents, Alex and Rosetta “Sugar” Keegans; brothers-in law, Billy L. Butler, Constable Ruben G. Davis, and Robert Elijah; niece, Traneka Davis.

Lynn had a profound love for her family and friends. A love that will forever remain the hearts of those left to cherish her memories, her son – the joy of her life, Eric Sherman; grandsons, David Clark and Xavier Sherman; great grands, Ty and Jasmine; sisters, Carolyn “Jean” Butler, Sharon “Doll” Davis, Lola “Blondie” Rhodes, and Sheila “Sandy” Elijah; brothers, Morris Sherman, Jr and wife, Marjorie “Edna” Sherman, and Kevin Drewitt and wife, Channel Drewitt; devoted sister-friend Gayle Barnes; loyal neighbor Barbara Hawkins; and a host of nieces and nephews, along with greats and great-greats, cousins and friends.

For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. 2 Corinthians 5:1
