Obituary

Lisa Denise Walker blessed the world with her presence on August 14, 1960 at Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas to Lewis and Jacqueline Walker. She was the first born of their four children. As the eldest sibling, she was a natural leader from birth. Lisa accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age as a member of the Christian Rescue Mission under the leadership of Pastor Leroy Woodard, Sr. While she was growing in her faith, she also developed a love for music and served as a gifted musician over the church youth choir.  In 2023,  Lisa became an active and faithful member of Houston First Baptist Downtown under the leadership of Pastor Leon Brooks III where she became stronger in her faith and closer to God.

Education was very important in Lisa's life as displayed by her lifelong love for learning. She attended Jack Yates High School in the historic Third Ward area of Houston, Texas where she graduated in 1979. After high school graduation, Lisa attended North Texas State University where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Land Management, but because of her love for helping people, she decided to pursue a career in nursing. She had finally found her God given purpose. Lisa went on to obtain an Associates Degree in Nursing from Houston Community College. Later she went on to advance her education by earning a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas in 2001. Throughout her 40 year career in nursing, she cared for many people in the areas of  pediatrics, home health, hospice, mental health and emergency response services. Lisa's entrepreneurial spirit led her to start her own home health care agency caring for the sick in their homes as a trusted and experienced medical professional. She had a heart for her patients, always making sure they received the best care possible.

In 1996, Lisa married the love of her life Charles Ngwu. From this union a beautiful baby boy was born, Ikenna Ngwu. She was a devoted mother who instilled in her son biblical principles and the love for Christ. Lisa enjoyed nature, working out, shopping, attending church, and spending time with her family and friends.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Lisa Denise Walker transitioned from this earthly dwelling to her heavenly home leaving a legacy for us all to cherish. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Ngwu and brother Troy Walker. She is survived by her loving family including her parents Lewis Walker and Jacqueline Walker, son Ikenna Ngwu, sisters Daphne Jackson ( Ronald), and Delynn Walker, nephew Deshaun Walker, niece Ameerah Jackson, best friends Alecia Roberts and Elnora McDonald, and a host of family members, friends, and co-workers.

"I have fought the good fight,I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which is the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearance."
