Obituary

Loretta Denise Leblanc Landry (Yard Bird) was born on January 16, 1962, in Houston, Texas and departed this life on January 11, 2024. Loretta was born to Rita and Adam LeBlanc. She was their pride and joy. Even though she was their only child, she was called sister by many relatives, because they shared a sibling bond. Loretta was a graduate of the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) Class of 1980. She obtained her Associates degree from Houston Community College in Dance. She obtained her Bachelors degree from The University of Houston. Upon receiving her degree Loretta began her career as a teacher with the Houston Independent School District, where she served for over 34 years. If you knew Lorettayou know that she loved to dance and teach.

Loretta's pride and joy were her two beautiful children, Harry "Bud" Landry III and Lorelle "Relle" Jackson. She strived to give them the world and ensure that they were equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to face society head on. She helped her two children accomplish their goals of becoming a lawyer and doctor. Loretta was a devoted daughter to both of her parents, she dedicated her later years to caring for her mother. She made sure that she created memories full of love and fun.

Loretta enjoyed traveling with family and making sure every holiday was celebrated with joy. Loretta was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church previously serving in the choir and the Knights of Peter Calvary; Ladies Auxiliary. Loretta was the decorator of all things. Her creative talents could be seen in her vibrant classroom, holiday decorations, school projects, and family banners. Loretta received numerous awards as an educator, recently receiving ESL Teacher of the year 2022-2023. If Loretta was not teaching, she was always doing something with family. She loved family events and to travel to Louisiana to be with family under the tree. If family called Loretta was always there.

Loretta is proceeded in death by her father, Adam Murry Leblanc, her grandparents, Edna and Wallace Senegal and Lena and Adam Leblanc Sr., and cousin David Williams. She is survived by her mother; Rita Jane Senegal LeBlanc, children:Harry Landry III (April) and Lorelle Danae Jackson, granddaughter; Olivia Grace Landry (MayMay), and a host of family of friends.
