Louis H.
Jackson
Apr 9, 1933 — Jan 13, 2024
Wonderful husband, magnificent father, faithful friend and child of The Most High God.
Louis Jackson, 90, was born on April 9, 1933, to the late Sallie Lee Jackson and Wilbert Jackson in Midway, Texas. Louis peacefully transitioned from this life on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Louis grew up and was educated in Midway, Texas. In his formative years, he was fondly known as "Tump" by those back in his hometown. This nickname was affectionately given to him by his eldest sister.
Louis worked at Meridith Transfer for many years, ultimately pursuing his entrepreneurial aspirations in the trucking and moving industry. While at Meridith Transfer, Louis gained even more…this is where he met the love of his life, Mable, who worked in the office. What an enchanting conversation it must have been, on that spontaneous walk home from the office that day, which ignited a kindred friendship that later developed into 60 years of marriage.
Louis was known for his passion for punctuality and was a stickler for timeliness indeed! He absolutely refused to be late for anything, (especially Thanksgiving Dinner!!). And oh yes! This high standard that he held of himself, was the same that he expected of others! He was well known for turning down a ride with you if you didn't show up at the time you told him to be ready. For Louis, "on time" actually meant you were late!
Louis displayed a timeless sense of style. He took pride in his wardrobe, which was always well-tailored and impeccable. However, it was his fondness for hats that truly set him apart. Each hat was carefully chosen to complement his ensemble, adding a touch of his trademark style to his overall appearance. In the world of the stylish gentleman, Louis made his mark!
In his later years, Louis gained an enthusiasm and interest for softball, joining a local league as the pitcher. Louis and his team proudly earned many 1st place tournament trophies from 1984 - 1988, that he truly cherished over the years.
Louis is reunited in eternal rest with his parents Sallie Lee Jackson and Wilbert Jackson; daughters, Brenda Dyer and Donnie Lynn Arthurs (Peter); siblings, Cora Lee Jackson, Earnest Jackson, Willie C. Jackson, Wilbert Jackson Jr., Jimmy C. Jackson and O. C. Jackson.
Louis leaves to cherish his legacy, his beloved wife of over 60 years, Mable Jackson; daughters, Stephenia McKinney, Sandra Simpkins, Benita Majors, Jacqueline Thomas; sons, Robert Jackson, Edward Jackson, Keith Jackson (Linda), and Kevin Jackson (Jennifer); siblings, Esther Scott and Zelma Bigham; a cherished grandfather to 23 grandchildren, bountiful great grandchildren, devoted nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his kindness, wisdom, and strength.
Louis' memory will forever live on through the hearts of those he leaves behind. Though he is no longer with us, Louis will be remembered for his dedication to family, his strong work ethic, and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Louis now rests in eternal peace in the loving arms of his Heavenly Father.
