With deep sorrow and immense love, we gather to honor the life of Mrs. Louise Hicks, who was born on October 4, 1951, in Houston, Texas, to the late Grace and Floyd Thomas, both of whom have preceded her in death.

Louise embraced Christ at a young age. She was baptized under the guidance of Rev. O.C. Johnson and later under Dr. Rev. Samuel Smith. Louise cherished attending church and held a deep affection for her church community and her pastor. She was a student at Abraham Lincoln High School. Louise dedicated her career as a Nutritionist at St. Joseph Hospital, where she worked for 30 years until her retirement in 2003, after which she became a full-time nanny, as she was affectionately called, to her grandchildren. Every morning, she ensured they were transported to school and wherever else they wished to go.

Louise was a radiant presence in the lives of all who had the honor of knowing her. Her time on this earth was characterized by love, compassion, and steadfast faith in God. Louise was the heart of our family, a fierce protector, and a constant source of strength for her daughter and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy came from nurturing her family. Known for her loving nature, laughter, shopping habits, and her tendency to order items she did not need, she also enjoyed reading the Sunday newspaper while sipping her morning coffee, along with her remarkable ability to see the good in everyone.

Louise entered eternal rest on November 30, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband and four brothers.

She is survived by her only child, Bridgette Thomas-Flood (Darry Sr.), grandchildren Delicia Truttling (Ezekiel), Dariel Flood, and Darryl Flood Jr., great-grandchildren Dawson, Emery, Bella, and Cohen, two sisters Lillian Thomas and Margaret Knowles, a very special cousin Verline Ray, a cherished niece and nephew Shikarra Knowles and Rickey Thomas, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
