Malik William
Kennard
Nov 18, 2002 — Dec 1, 2025
Malik William Kennard was born on November 18, 2002, in Houston, Texas, to Chemetra Scott and William Kennard. As the youngest child and Chemetra's only son, Malik held a special place in the hearts of his family.
On Monday, December 1, 2025, Malik was called home to be with the Lord. He was a proud graduate of Ross Shaw Sterling Aviation High School, Class of 2022. Throughout his life, Malik was a dedicated and hardworking young man. He found joy in his work with H-E-B, FedEx, and Home Depot, and he carried a dream of becoming a t-shirt and fashion designer—an aspiration that reflected his creativity and vibrant spirit.
In his spare time, Malik enjoyed target shooting, designing, gaming, playing basketball, bowling, and spending time with those he loved most. His laughter, presence, and loyalty left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know him.
From birth, Malik faced the challenges of sickle cell disease (SCD) with remarkable strength and courage. SCD is a genetic blood disorder that causes red blood cells to become crescent-shaped, leading to painful crises, anemia, and potential organ complications. Despite these obstacles, Malik lived his life with resilience, faith, and determination—truly a warrior in every sense of the word.
Malik is preceded in death by his grandparents, William L. Kennard Sr., Linda Madkins, and Douglas E. Scott.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving parents, Chemetra Scott and William L. Kennard Jr.; his grandmothers, Shirley Scott and Mary Kennard; his siblings, Roshia, Kiara, Jada, and Desmond Kennard. Nieces and Nephews; Kendric Kennard, Kayson Russell, Jayson Russell, Toyreuna McNeil. Malik was affectionately known to many as "Leek-Leek," a name that captured the warmth and affection he inspired.
Malik's life, though far too brief, was filled with love, courage, and purpose. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
