Obituary

Marguerite Deloris Grice was born on November 21, 1933 as an only child to Felix Grice and Hazelle Cary in Houston, Texas.

Marguerite became a member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church as a child, served as junior usher, choir member, and was an active member throughout her adult life. She served as a member of the Super Saints, was a past church Secretary, Church Finance Clerk, and member of the Scholarship Committee.

Marguerite was a confident, hard-working, accomplished, compassionate, humorous, and "matter of fact" woman. She had so many stories to tell of her life experiences and took advantage of every opportunity to serve in her community.

Marguerite served in the United States Army. She is also alum of Texas Southern University and Prairie Veiw A&M University, and received a BS degree in Industrial Education, MS Degree in Industrial Education, M. Ed Degree in Counseling & Guidance, was a Licensed Counselor by the State of Texas and retired from Houston Independent School District as a school counselor.

Most recent affiliations include Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc,-Xi Chapter (1970); Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.,- Xi Alpha Omega Chapter (year unknown), National Women of Achievement, Inc.-Metro Southeast Houston Chapter (1987), The Callie Lewis 40 Plus Models (1993). Additional affiliations included Jack Yates Fabulous Fifties Alumni Association, Traveling Classic Bowling League, and Katie Holmes |Court-#465, Grand Court Order of Calanthe.

On October 3, 2024, God called for his angel to serve as a member on the most high board. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her only son, Gerald Grice. She leaves to cherish her most beloved Grandsons, Keith Young (Jacquelyn Young) and Roshi Grice (D'Shuanna "Renee" Grice); Honorary granddaughter, Raitima Andrus; Great Grandchildren, Amethyst, Lorenz, Kierra, Kaelyn, and Kennady; Great great-grandchildren, Nathan, Elijah, Keiran, Nova, and Kimaris, and a host of family and friends.
