LIFE REFLECTIONS

Psalms 23:1 – The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

Marie Green-Gipson, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister, godmother, and cousin, passed away peacefully at her home in Arcola, Texas on October 2, 2025.

Born on July 13, 1964, in Opelousas, Louisiana, to Joseph Melvin Green and Mary Jane Green, Marie embraced her faith early in life, accepting the Lord as her personal Savior—a foundation that guided her throughout her journey.

Marie attended Madison High School in Houston and went on to build a successful career in food service, where she served as a Senior Manager for over 20 years. Her strong work ethic and unwavering dedication were evident in every role she held, each one reflecting her deep commitment to supporting and uplifting her family.

Marie's legacy is one of love, strength, and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and cherished her.

Marie became a faithful member of Windsor Village Methodist Church.

Marie is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Melvin Green Sr., her brother Joseph Melvin Green Jr., her grandparents, Clara Pinkney, Willie Green, Effie Gradnigo-Sam, and Lucius Sam.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband, Darryl Gipson, and her one and only wonderful son, Derrick Green. She is also survived by her loving mother, Mary Jane Green, and six cherished grandchildren: Davion, Adin, Jeremiah, Zoe, Mason, and Stormi.

Marie's memory will continue to live on through her sisters: Trameka Matthews, Rita Coleman, and Brenda Matthews, and her brothers: Joseph Wayne Pickens and Joseph Sam Sr. She was a proud godmother to Tamia Matthews (Nana), Eric Tinsley, and Gregory Rashad (Wednesday), and held a special bond with her godparents: Christa (Nannan) Sam and Joseph Sam (Katt Daddy).

Her nephews Vincent Thorn, Keith Gipson, and Greg Gipson, special cousins Tisha Tinsley, Teleshia Smith, Trina Graham, and Yolanda Crowder, will forever hold her close in their hearts.
