Maryland Louise
Hicks
Jun 22, 1949 — Mar 26, 2025
My life has been full, I've savored much, good friends, good times, my loved one's touch.
On March 26, 2025, Maryland Louise Parks-Hicks departed from this life surrounded by family and friends.
Maryland was born June 22, 1949, in Houston, Texas to Edna Lacey and Johnnie Hue Parks. She was the last of the ten children. She confessed Christ at the early age of nine and baptized under the Leadership of Pastor J. G. Steward. Maryland was very talented, at nine years old she began to play the piano and organ at First Missionary Baptist Church. She graduated from Evan E. Worthing High School in May of 1968. She had a deep love for music and was an extremely hard worker.
Maryland decided she wanted to be a nurse and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in nursing. She worked with some of the best heart surgeons in the world on teams performing heart transplants and saving lives.
Maryland was a proud Mother and Blessed with two children: Jesse Wayne Anderson, Jr. and Angela Denise Anderson.
On November 29, 2004, Maryland Louise was united in marriage to Pastor Charles Lee Hicks in Houston, Texas where she served as First Lady of Ministering for Christ Christian Family Center until the Lord called her home.
Maryland Louise enjoyed being around family and friends, loved to socialize and took great joy in cooking. She had a good time wherever she went and always made friends. More than anything she was thrilled about life and her love for the Lord.
