M C Green was born in Palestine, Texas to Voyd and Willie M. Chivers Green on November 19, 1940. He joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend G. H. Wilson and was baptized by Reverend Wilson. He attended Elementary and High School at Henry High School in Elkhart, Texas. He graduated high school in 1960. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army where he served three years and was honorably discharged on May 18, 1963. He lived in Brooklyn New York for 15 years and relocated to Houston in 1978. He worked for Grocery Supply for a few years then he later was employed by Action Box Company as a truck driver for 30 years and retired from there. He was married to Elizabeth Williams Green for 56 years.
He joined Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church in 1978 under the leadership of the late Rev. J. J. Roberson and became an Ordained Deacon. During those years he served on the Transportation Committee and was a van driver; worked with the Finance Team and made the weekly deposits, sung in the Male Chorus, attended Sunday School and continued under Dr. Max A. Miller, Jr. until his health would not permit him to continue.
He received Humanitarian Award from Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Dedicated and Committed service award from Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church February 2006 and the Appreciation Award from Action Box Company October 1997.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Green, his parents Voyd, Sr. and Willie M. Green, four brothers—Voyd Green, Jr., Hula Sam Green, Costella Green and Shedrick Green.
He leaves to cherish his memories—3 sisters: Pearl Green Bodrick of Houston, Texas, Frankie Green Barrett and Barbara Green of Palestine, Texas; Sister-In-Law Velzoria Green; God Daughters: Rochelle Bodrick Smith of Houston, Texas and Deborah Bodrick Kinloch of Brooklyn, New York; nephew Patrick Coker of Brooklyn, New York along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
