Deacon Michael Jerome Bond went home to be with the Lord on September 6, 2025 at the age of 71 years old. He was born to the late Lee Bond, Sr., and Fannie Mae Thompson on June 18, 1954 in Norfolk, Virginia. Bro. Bond was the second oldest of four brothers. As a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, he also played tuba in the marching band and served as a regional first chair in the tuba section. After high school, he enrolled in the United States Army and played in the U. S. Army Band. After serving in the military, he enrolled at Norfolk State University. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Bro. Bond was the owner of Bond Financial Group and has been self-employed as an insurance agent for most of his career. In June of 1977, Bro. Bond was united in holy matrimony to June Elouise Cannon after meeting her at Norfolk State. They were blessed with one loving son, Donshay. Bro. Bond has been a member of the Church of Christ (Holiness) USA his entire life; accepting Christ at an early age when he attended First Church of Christ Holiness in Norfolk. After college, the Bonds moved to Connecticut for a year. Bro. Bond was then offered a job in Houston where he became a member of First Church-Houston. He held many positions; including President of the Local, District and Southwestern Diocese National Brotherhood and the Second Vice-President of the Brotherhood at the National level. Deacon Bond was also the Coordinator of the monthly District 4 Brotherhood Prayer Call. In 2017, Bro. Bond was awarded the honor of National Man of the Year. In 2024, Bro. Bond was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Pensions and Benefits of COCHUSA. Bro. Bond was also a loyal Deacon at First Church and one of the adult Sunday School Teachers. Bro. Bond was also First Church's phenomenal Bass Guitarist for over 40 years and served with the other musicians at the District, Diocese and National levels of COCHUSA. Bro. Bond had a heart for the Lord, he loved people and was always willing to help. Bro. Bond leaves many precious memories with his wife, June, son Donshay, brothers Lee (Irene), Douglas and Donald(Jeanette), sister-in-law Barbara Jean Harvey, brothers-in-law Alvin and Harvey Cannon, nieces, nephews, many relatives, friends, clients and his large COCHUSA family.
