He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Mardis and a son, Michael Yeggins.

Michael leaves to mourn and cherish his memory, wife Tyrona Smith, daughters Chaconda Willis and Mikeisha Bias, his mother Carrie Phillips Patterson, sister Cherry Jean Phillips, 3 brothers; Raymond Phillips, Theodore Phillips and George Thomas; nine grand and great grandchildren; Auntie Mary Jane Marston & family from Coushatta and Mansfield, Louisiana.

He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
