Obituary

Robert Christian Tucker, affectionately known as "Chris," was born on January 25, 1962, in Houston, Texas, to Barbara Johnson and the late Kermit Ayers Tucker. On June 25, 2025, he transitioned from this life unexpectedly, in the city where his remarkable journey began.
Chris was educated in Houston's public schools, graduating from Ross S. Sterling Senior High School where he received numerous awards for speech and drama under the tutelage of Mr Faulkner. He later pursued higher education at Sam Houston State University where he secured a scholarship in speech and drama. Answering a higher calling of service, he also proudly served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer.
Chris accepted Christ at an early age, a decision that would shape his path for decades to come. That foundational faith eventually led him to ministry, where he served as an Associate Minister at Houston Praise & Worship Center under the leadership of Bishop Frank Rush.
A man of extraordinary passion, unwavering faith, and boundless creativity, Chris wore many hats with distinction and grace. He was a charismatic Emcee who commanded the stage, an impassioned Thespian, whose love for the Theatre and Arts reflected his vibrant spirit and gift for storytelling, a beloved Radio DJ who inspired and uplifted through the airwaves, a visionary Producer and Manager who nurtured and championed talent, and a dedicated Minister who poured love and truth into the hearts of many.
Chris Tucker was an ambassador for Universe Purpose, Non- Profit "Helping People- Help People". His professional career was managed by Je La Beaux Talent Agency placing him and his glorious talents on many stages; venues; broadcasts; shows; productions and events as Master of Ceremony for various super stars; artist; dignitaries; and historical activities. His velvet voice has been heard throughout Houston Broadcast Stations- KTSU; KCOH; KYOK; HMS Net Radio; HMSTV Cable Network and so many others.
In every role, Chris gave fully of himself. He believed deeply in the transformative power of words, music, and ministry. His life was a testament to what it means to serve others with integrity, humor, and compassion.
Among his most cherished quotes was this:
"Our existence...precedes our essence, the mere fact that we exist is far more important...for it means we still have the power, to change who we are."
This belief echoed in the way he lived—always seeking growth, healing, and a deeper connection to his faith and his fellow man.
Chris is survived by his mother, Barbara Johnson Tucker; his longtime companion and friend, Rhonda McKell Tucker; his children, M.J. Tucker, Chelsea J'Nai Tucker, and Shannon Lynn Ortiz; his stepchildren, Alexandria Raymond and Shekina Wiley-Sattiewhite; his uncle, Ernest "Bud" Johnson; and his loving cousins, Tiffany Clayborn-McDaniel and Lillian Trahan; The Lawson Johnson and Easley Davenport Families, as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kermit "KT" Ayers Tucker, his aunt Mattie Joyce "Joy" Johnson Clayborn, and his uncles John Thomas Tucker and Charles E. "Smitty" Smith.
Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing that Chris now rests in the eternal embrace of his Savior, reunited with loved ones who have gone before. His voice may be quieted on earth, but it echoes forever in the lives he touched.
