Born in Livingston, Texas to Curtis Edward Allen & Carrie Elizabeth Allen. She graduated from Livingston's Paul Laurence Dunbar High School at the age of 16.  She earned her Bachelors & Masters degrees from Texas Southern University & taught 7th grade English at Attucks Middle School for 35 yrs.  Mittie is survived by 3 daughters Pamela Baptiste Williams (Michael) Melba Baptiste Sims, Adrienne Michelle Baptiste, 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a wonderful group of extended family and friends.
She is now joined with her loving husband, Louis Jean Baptiste, Jr. her parents, 4 brothers, 1 great grandchild and other relatives who preceded her into God's kingdom.
