Obituary

Monroe Keetes Burks was born on April 26, 1996, in Houston, Texas, to Nettra Thompson Burks
and Otis Burks.
Monroe attended Dodson Elementary, Cullen Middle School, and Jack Yates Senior High School.
Diagnosed with Autism at the age of three and being nonverbal, Monroe's diagnosis never defined
him—nor did it stop him from living a joyful, complete, and meaningful life.
Monroe was known and loved by many.

Monroe was truly the KING of many things—a gentle giant, a loving teddy bear, and a constant source
of happiness. He had a deep love for music, movies, YouTube, and especially good food—fried chicken
and his Aunt's famous cornbread dressing were among his favorites. Above all, Monroe loved his
family deeply.

Monroe is preceded in death by his beloved Mother, Nettra Thompson Burks; Grandparents Merlee &
Rollie Thompson; Uncles Rufus Earl Harrison, Merlin Thompson, and LaRue Thompson; and his Favorite
Aunt, Frence Lawon Thompson.

Monroe leaves to cherish his memory his two favorite cousins, Oprah Montague(Theo). and Olivia
Garrett, along with a host of loving family members and friends who were blessed to know him.
