Nancy Lee Ladet was born July 5, 1947, in Mamou, Louisiana to Clamois Ardoin Ladet (Leday) and Vorise Ladet (Leday). She is a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Nancy loved reading, writing, and playing sports as a child. Her favorite sport was basketball, and she even played basketball for Celestine High School in Mamou. After graduating from high school, she attended cosmetology school in Opelousas. She became a hair stylist while living in Eunice, Louisiana.
In 1968, she married Walter Johnson Jr. of Ville Platte Louisiana. To this union, they had three children: Dexter Heath Johnson, LaFonda Annette Johnson, and Walter Kane Johnson. She loved her family immensely and volunteered in countless PTA events and school programs.
Nancy was a member of Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church. It was here that she homed in on her ability to serve. She was a member of the Deaconess and Missionary Board and served as Youth Matron. She was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher and coordinator and a speaker for Mission programs and Women's Day. She served in other capacities as well, including: a Seamstress and florist for special programs. Nancy was also a Prayer Warrior. She loved serving and she loved people for she lived by The Beatitudes. She had an infectious smile, hearty laughter, and a sense of humor.
She died Saturday, February 3rd and is preceded in death by her parents: Clamois and Vorise Ladet, brothers: Lawrence Freeman and Sherman Leday, and sister: Vercie Ladet Courville. She leaves behind her husband of nearly 57 years: Walter Johnson Jr, children: Dexter Johnson and wife - Hope Johnson, LaFonda Johnson, and Walter K. Johnson and wife - LaKenya Johnson, grandson: Thaddaeus and granddaughters: Faith, Grace, and Noelle Johnson, her sisters: Dorothy Alfred and Jennie Dangerfield, brother: Davis Ladet, and a host of cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
