Obe Henry Jr. was born March 13, 1937, to Ida and Obe Henry in Emerson, Arkansas. As the fifth of ten children, Obe enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing basketball. He attended school in Emerson, graduating from the local high school. As a young man, Obe moved to Houston, Texas where he began working at Stahlman's Lumber Company.

In 1963, Obe was introduced to Eula Fay, and they began their life together shortly after. Obe and Fay, along with their daughter Doris, moved to 5th Ward, Houston, TX in 1964. Shortly after, the family of three welcomed a baby girl (Schyrel) in 1965 and their first son, Kenneth in 1966. Obe and Fay completed their family of five with the birth of Gregory in 1970.

Obe began working at Betco Scaffolding after leaving Stahlman's in 1985. During his time at Betco, Obe helped to supervise the construction projects of notable Houston landmarks including Minute Maid Park, NRG Stadium, the University of Houston Recreation Center, and the George R. Brown Convention Center. He retired from Betco after over twenty years of diligent service.

Obe spent the remainder of his years resting leisurely on his front porch swing, speaking to friends and neighbors, gardening, and playing with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He also continued his favorite pass times, hunting, fishing, and tinkering on his truck.

Obe is proceeded in death by his parents (Ida and Obe), daughter (Schyrel), and his nine siblings (Mamie, Huey, Maerene, Anna, Sue, Nathaniel, Charles Ray, Joe, and Linda). He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 62 years, Eula Fay; children: Doris (Clyde), Kenneth (Pamela), and Gregory; grandchildren: Crystal, Jessica, Ashli, Lewis (Kathy), Tri Keah, and Ondrea; 11 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
