Obituary

Odis Darnell Pullum was welcomed into this world on May 25, 1951, in Houston, TX to James Ace Pullum and Doretha Hill. He was the oldest of two born to this union.

Odis was raised and educated in Sunnyside Texas. He attended Sunnyside Elementary, Crispus Attucks Junior High and graduated from Evan E. Worthing Senior High. Odis was a member of the Citywide Champion Attucks Junior High swim team where he excelled at his specialty "the Breaststroke". He also attended Lee Junior College, where he obtained an associate's degree.

Odis Pullum was joined in holy matrimony to his high school sweetheart Doretha Holdman. To this union two daughters were born, Carlisa Annette Pullum and LaShawn Yvette Pullum.

He was employed with Houston Independent School district for 16 years as a Plant Operator serving at various campuses throughout the district.

Odis accepted Christ at an early age. As a young adult he joined and attended Brentwood Missionary Baptist Church. He later united with Pentecostal Missionary Baptist church where he served faithfully in various auxillaries and ministries until his health declined. He was a Deacon, President of the Brotherhood for over 10 years, member of the Men's Chorus, Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday School teacher, Advisor for the Recovery Ministry, and an active member of the Street Evangelism Team for PMBC and South Texas District Association.

He was a devoted son to his mother until her passing and he also had a special bond with his mother's surviving siblings: Mary LaDay, Earline Denton, and Edward Hill. Odis loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He departed this life on June 10, 2025 and was proceeded in death by his parents James Pullum and Doretha Archer. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Doretha, daughters Carlisa(Charles) and LaShawn, his sister Marilyn"Ann"(Josiah), four grandchildren: Torrin(Francine), Jordan(Deantia), Chelsey, and Trey, four great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
