A Time to be Born

·         We are here to celebrate the homegoing of Opal Lynn Sidney. She entered this world on Tuesday, May 11, 1965, to Freddie and Cleo Henderson at Jefferson Davis Hospital. She was raised in Houston, TX by her parents along with her siblings, Jeannette Hargrove, Freddie Henderson Jr., Kay Allen, Ray Henderson, and Alonzo Henderson.

A Time to Love and Grow

·         Opal married the love of her life, Samuel Lee Sidney Sr., on April 2, 1988, and they were married for 37 years. She was a phenomenal mother to Samuel Lee Sidney Jr., Brittany Nicole Santos, Ashley Channel Sidney, Trevor Jewel Sidney, and a loving mother-in-law to Christopher Michael Santos I and Krystal Sidney. She was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Quallian Deon Davis, Christopher Michael Santos II, Ivy Divine Lovings, Malachi Jordan Santos, Zion Houston Santos, and Vincent Shedeur Barnett.

·         Opal attended Worthing High School and took cosmetology classes. She also attended beauty school for a while, but desired to become a preschool teacher. Opal worked as a preschool teacher for over 20 years at First Christian School and loved being around children. Her kindness and patience with children made a positive impact in her professional career. She embraced all children of all shapes and sizes and loved them for who they were. She also had a positive relationship with all of her co-workers and embraced them as family.

·         Opal enjoyed spending time with her family, having movie and date nights with her loving husband. She enjoyed having a wonderful time with laughter, dancing, jokes, food, drinks, and listening to good music.

A Time to Depart

·         Having lived a wonderful and eventful life, Opal Lynn Sidney's journey on earth was complete. God, in his infinite wisdom, called her home on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father, Freddie Henderson Sr.

A Time to Mourn

·         Opal is survived by her loving husband Samuel Sidney Sr., and her loving children, Samuel Sidney Jr. (Krystal Sidney), Brittany Santos (Christopher Santos I), Ashley Sidney, and Trevor Sidney; her loving mother of 91 years of age Cleo Henderson; her siblings, Jeanetta and Robert Hargrove, Freddie Henderson (Julie Henderson), Ray Henderson (Traci Henderson), Kay Allen, and Alonzo Henderson, and a host of her in-laws, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
