Born on June 25, 1938, to Oscar and Elvira Fields. Oscar Fields, Jr., was a beacon of joy whose life touched the hearts of many.
Growing up in Stafford, Texas, Oscar embraced faith early at New Hope Baptist Church under the guidance of Reverend Singleton. He attended New Hope School before continuing his education at Jack Yates High School in Houston, where his passion for basketball earned him a spot on the team.
After graduating, Oscar enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he explored the worked before his honorable discharge in 1963 as Corporal Oscar Fields, Jr. Following his military service, he pursued a career in construction, dedicating himself to hard work, until his retirement. Throughout his life, Oscar cherished moments with family and friens, wspecially at the annual Jackson/Fields Reunion. He was also a passionate sports fan, with a deep love for the Houston Astros and an unwavering loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys.
Oscar was a loving father to two children from a previous marriage, Sedrick and Rhonda who resides in Seattle, Washington.
Later in life, he found a lasting love with Brenda Joyce Gibbs, and their union of 57 years was a testament to their enduring bond. Together, they welcomed two children. Oscar is preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings, Ollie Davis, Ella Smith, Elvira Sparks, Thirley Mills, Geneva Keith, Zola Oliver, Leon Fields and Melvin Fields.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Fields, his children, Shlise Brown (Alvin) of Fresno, Texas, and Tony Fields (Ronda) of Manvel, Texas; his grandchildren, Asya Fields and Ethan Brown, his sister-in-law, Marcia Fields, and multitude of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, all of who hold his memory close to their hearts.
