Pastor B. R. Williams

December 8, 1935 – November 18, 2025

Surrounded by love and covered in prayer, Pastor B. R. Williams went home to be with the Lord on November 18, 2025. He lived with purpose, preached with conviction, prayed without fear, and cared deeply for every soul placed in his path. His ministry touched countless lives, and his legacy will continue to shine through all whom he inspired.

Born on December 8, 1935, in Augusta, Texas, to the late Willie and Eula Mae Williams, Pastor Williams was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Lillian Robinson, F. C. Williams, Harry Williams, Virginia Ruth Lamb, Dillie Mae Williams, Maxine Gallow, Willie Cleo Walker, Joyce Benton, Gladys King, James Williams, and Fredonia Tubbs.

Pastor Williams was also preceded in death by his stepdaughter, JaToya Bingham.

A Life of Faith

Pastor Williams began his spiritual journey at the age of 19, confessing Christ as his Lord and Savior. He joined East Macedonia Baptist Church, where his membership faithfully remained throughout his earthly life under the leadership of the late Reverend S. L. Farris. While attending services at Ship of Zion Baptist Church, he received the anointing of the Holy Spirit that set him firmly upon his divine path.

A Calling Fulfilled

Though his early vocational journey led him through diverse fields—including private chauffeuring and embalming—the undeniable call of the Lord could not be ignored. This sacred calling ultimately led him to found and shepherd Calvary Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

From its humble beginnings in his mother's living room with just seven dedicated members, the church flourished under his visionary leadership. As the congregation expanded, worship moved to a beauty shop on Beulah Street, then to a white frame building on Anita Street. Growth continued until a larger sanctuary was required—one he faithfully found at the church's current home at 3941 Almeda Genoa Rd., Houston, Texas.

A Leader Beyond the Pulpit

Beyond the walls of Calvary Hill, Pastor Williams' influence extended widely. He organized the "Prayer Bowl," an alliance of pastors and musicians that convened every fifth Sunday and became the highlight of every New Year's Day. His leadership was further recognized through his service as Vice Moderator of the Southern District Association of Texas and Vice President of the State Convention of Texas, reflecting his commitment to further the Lord's work.

For 71 years, Pastor B. R. Williams served faithfully as the shepherd of Calvary Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was renowned for spirit-filled preaching, heartfelt intercessory prayer, and unwavering dedication to guiding and nurturing his congregation. Honored as a pastor, teacher, mentor, and trusted friend, he was especially remembered for his anointed hands and the remarkable gift he possessed to bring healing to the sick. Among his most cherished scriptures was the comforting 23rd Psalm.

Pastor Williams became an honorary member of the Precinct 7 Constable's Office and remained there until his death. He took great pride in letting anyone he came into contact with know that he carried that badge. He served there for over three decades and under four different constables.

A Loving Husband & Family Man

In 1995, he found and married the love of his life, Janie O. Bingham, with whom he shared a faithful, committed, and loving union until his passing.

Pastor Williams leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Mrs. Janie Bingham-Williams; five daughters:Alesia Haynes (Dennis), Leta Pierre, Vanessa Daniels, Lisa Brooks, and Kabrina Daniels two bonus children:YaShica Bingham, and Lawrence (Meagan) Bingham;
five grandchildren: Lawrence J. Bingham, MaKaylen Bingham, Aniyah David, Peyton David, and Maeve Bingham;
