Patricia Ann Thomas was born on Apri 17, 1940 In Houston, Texas to the proud parents of Harding Elijah Thomas and Zenobia McClendon.
Raised in the Christian faith from childhood, Pat attended Wesley Chapel AME Church as all of the children in her family did. There she was under the leadership of Reverend Williams.
Pat as she was loving called, was educated in the Houston Independent School District. At Jack Yates Senior High School, she was a member of the Marching Ryan Cadets, marching at football games and in parades. After graduating from Jack Yates, she attended Nursing School and became a Private Duty Nurse. She loved caring for others and often had patients that were family members of CEO's and Presidents of Major Oil Companies here in Houston.
Pat was united in marriage to Marion Canady on July 7, 1960. They were married for 63 wonderful years. To this union 5 boys were born. Pat was very active in school and social activities with her children. She was one of the organizers of the Florinda Holiday Decorating Block Party. This tradition spread through out the city after the local news channel did a story on the Florinda Christmas Arches.
She and her family united with the House of Prayer. Betty Clark and her sisters often had fellowship at Pat's home.
Pat later became a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She was very proud to be part of a great congregation as she would say. If she was not physically able to go, she would listen on line. She thought her Pastor was the best!
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Canady, as she called him, both parents, her brothers, Lee Arthur Cosby, Lucious Cosby, both grandparents, her sons, Reginald Eugene, Avery Jewel and Kendrick Durrell Canady. She leaves to cherish her memory, 2 sons, Marion (Mister) Canady Jr, Kevin Canady, Granddaughters, Monique McZeal (Darius), Ashley Canady, grandsons Kevin (Duke) Canady Jr, Avery Canady Jr, 3 great grandkids, daughter in law, Andrea Canady, special cousins and friends Jo Carolyn Hebert, Freddie Elaine Pope, Sandra Semiens, Debbie Gibbs, Cynthia Wattree, Lorene Williams and a host of family and friends.
