Pearlie Ruth (Edwards) Gray

On Thursday, January 14th, 1937, in Navasota, Texas, Johnnie Mae Williams gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Pearlie Ruth. To know Pearlie, was to respect her. Becoming a staunch advocate, she always did her best to connect those in need with the resources available. She remained this ferocious warrior until her time of death on July 5th, 2026.

Pearlie, aka Ruth, possessed a wealth of community knowledge and was always there when called upon. She always knew the dates of registration for particular events and where the next potential giveaway was occurring. She did her best to ensure others had what they needed or desired.

Ruth’s Christian journey began early in life at Mr. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the tutelage Rev. F L Dickey. Afterwards she continued her journey at New Day Deliverance Holiness Church with Apostle Richard Taylor and supported her son Pastor Rickie Edwards when he stepped out to begin his church. Her journey ended at Restoring Life Ministries under the teaching of Apostle Gerald B Holmes.

Pearlie was preceded in death by her mother: Johnnie Mae Covington, brother: Edward Williams, daughter: Charlotte Edwards, granddaughter: Stacia Edwards, and grandson: Ryan Edwards.

She is survived by sister: Caroly Covington, brothers: Phillip Covington and Larry Covington, son: Pastor Rickie Edwards (Kathy), daughters: Pamela Edwards and Felicia Edwards, 14 grand children, 22 great grand children, and 2 great great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousin
