Obituary

On May 4, 1959, on a bright and beautiful sunny day in San Francisco, California, a baby boy was born to Hubert Lewis, Jr. and Emma Hamilton Lewis. They named him Reginald Duron Lewis.

Reginald accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in his faith throughout his life. He attended George Washington High School and later pursued higher education on a basketball scholarship at Western Wyoming University in Rock Springs, Wyoming, where he earned an Associate of Arts Degree.

In 1980, Reginald relocated to Houston, Texas with his mother and stepfather, Mr. Johnnie Taylor. He united with Brentwood Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Joe Ratliff, where he served faithfully as a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord as a devoted usher. Reginald also had a deep love for dogs and spent many years raising, training and breeding them.

In 1988, he met the love of his life, Joyce Marie Miles. The two were joined in holy matrimony on November 26, 1988, and were blessed with 37 years of marriage. From this loving union two sons were born: Jeremy Mackenize Lewis and Jaylan Deron Lewis.

Reggie was employed with Chance Collar Oil & Gas and Dal-Tile, and he also served as a referee for the YMCA. Eventually, he became a successful entrepreneur, launching his own business, M & L Contractors. He had a heart for service and a deep love for his community, serving as President of the Ridgemont Civic Club. Reggie enjoyed cheering on his two favorite teams – the San Francisco 49ers and the Golden State Warriors.

On Friday, December 26, 2025, Reggie answered the call of his Heavenly Father and peacefully departed this life. We thank God for his life, a life marked by faithfulness, service and an unwavering love for the Lord.

Reggie was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Lewis, Jr.; his stepfather, Johnnie Taylor; and his brother, Mark Parker.

Reggie leaves to cherish his loving memory, his devoted wife, Joyce Lewis; his sons, Jeremy and Jaylan Lewis; brothers, Michael Lewis, Patrick McArthur and Darrell McArthur; sisters, Rochelle King and Monise McArthur; brother-in-law: Frederick (Adriane) Miles; sister-in-law, Chandra Miles; grandchildren, Greyson, Gia, Garrison and Jaelah Lewis; godchildren, Derek (Jessica) Pierre, Eric (Lovie) Pierre, Jr., and Michelle Byars; uncles: Jimmy Hamilton of Hercules, CA, Gregory (Cynthia) Griffin of Pleasant Hill, CA, Darrell Wesley of Houston, TX, and Edward Wright of New York, NY; aunts, Coni Taylor of Reno, NV, Catherine Lewis of Spencer, OK, Jean Ross of San Francisco, CA, Janet Butler of Sacramento, CA, and Eleanor "Brownie" Moore of Houston, TX; along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends. He is also fondly remembered by the Brentwood Usher Board, The Ridgemont Civil Club and his Texans Tailgate family.
