Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Pastor Fred Baisey Jr.

Pastor Fred Baisey, Jr., lovingly known as Baisey, Pops, and Papa, was born on October 25, 1938 in Giddings, Texas to Fred Baisey Sr. and Rosetta Sanders-Baisey. He was raised in Houston, TX with his two brothers and one sister. Fred always said he was going to make something of himself, despite his humble beginnings. He was known as “Fred Tuba Baisey” in high school and was voted Best Dressed Senior. At an early age, he was baptized and demonstrated a heart for service and leadership.

Fred married the love of his life, Fraulyn (Helen) Bell Baisey. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, love, and service. Their marriage of over 60 years was a testament to commitment, partnership, and enduring love.

Fred and Helen were blessed with three daughters, Kathleen, Karen, and Katrice. His family was one of his greatest sources of joy and pride. He cherished every opportunity to encourage, guide, support, and love his family, always reminding them of the importance of faith, perseverance, and staying connected to one another.

Professionally, Fred began his career at the Houston Independent School District (HISD) as a Plant Operator. He later became the supervisor over the Northside Plant Operations and was eventually promoted to Administrator of the Maintenance Department. Fred also taught Stationary Engineering classes at Houston Community College. After 37 years of dedicated service, he retired from HISD in 2003. Fred was a member of multiple organizations including the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World Gibraltar Lodge #500.

While his career was an important part of his life, Fred’s greatest calling was not simply his profession - it was his ministry.

Fred Baisey Jr. announced his call to ministry at Greater Rose Hill Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend F.A. Allen. While driving down Martin Luther King Blvd, God spoke to him and said this is where he would build a church. Pastor Baisey followed God’s instructions and founded Inter-Grated Missionary Church, a church for all people. The church started with three members and has since expanded to a larger property, raising up multiple Ministers, Evangelists, and Deacons.

Pastor Baisey faithfully shepherded Inter-Grated Missionary Church. His ministry was marked by generosity, powerful preaching, mentorship, prayer, and compassion. He believed that the church was not simply a building, but a family and a place where people could encounter God, find encouragement, and discover their purpose.

Pastor Baisey had a heart for people. He welcomed those who were searching, encouraged those who were struggling, celebrated those who were growing, and prayed for those in need. He was not only a pastor from the pulpit; he was a pastor in the everyday moments of life. He mentored young ministers, baptized new believers, counseled families through multiple stages of life, served the community, and visited those in need. His impact extended far beyond the walls of Inter-Grated Missionary Church. He touched many lives through leaving an example of what it means to be a servant leader.

To those who called him Pastor, he was a shepherd.

To those who called him Dad, he was a protector and guide.

To those who called him Papa, he was a source of wisdom and unconditional love.

To his wife, he was her provider, soulmate and lifelong partner.

And to so many others, he was simply a man who made their lives better by knowing him.

Pastor Baisey was preceded in death by his middle daughter, Karen Jackson (survived by husband, Marvin) who he lovingly called “Junior;” parents, Fred Sr. and Rosetta Baisey; brothers, Morris Baisey and Robert Baisey; and sister, Frances Baisey.

We find comfort in knowing that he has now been reunited with those he loved and, most importantly, that he has entered the presence of the God he served so faithfully throughout his life.

Pastor Fred Baisey Jr. leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy, his devoted wife, Fraulyn Helen Baisey; daughters, Katrice (Vance) Galloway and Kathleen (Wayne) Blount; grandchildren, Kristina (Richard) Mills-Tetteh, Kathryn (Kisha) Jackson, Fred Galloway, Vance Galloway Jr., Tiffany (Michael) Malone, and Wayne Blount II; great-grandchildren, Glenn Barnes IV, Kodi and Jackson Mills-Tetteh; bonus daughters, Alesia Culpepper and Kristine (Jason) Mosby; brothers-in-law, Harold Bell and Clyde Bell; nieces, Tahiti Dbisi and Lina Yvette Bell; nephews, Reginald Bell, Kenneth Bell, Carl Bell, Delwyn Bell, Lorne Bell, and Greg Baisey; first cousin, Tyrone Patterson; and a host of extended family, church family, and many others who loved him greatly.

He also leaves behind the countless lives he touched through his ministry, his friendship, his wisdom, his prayers, his laughter, and his unwavering love.

His family will forever carry the lessons he taught them, the prayers he prayed over them, and the love he poured into them. His church family will carry forward the foundation he built. And the people whose lives he touched will continue to tell the stories of the man who encouraged them, believed in them, and reminded them of the goodness of God.

Pastor Fred Baisey Jr. lived a life of faith, family, service, and purpose. He loved his family. He loved his church. He loved people. And above all, he loved God.

Though he is no longer with us in the way we wish he could be, his voice will continue to echo through the lives he shaped, his teachings will continue through those he mentored, and his love will continue through the family he leaves behind.

His work on earth is complete. Well done, Pastor Fred Baisey Jr. Your race has been run, your work is finished, and your legacy will live on in all of us who were blessed to know and love you.
