Today we gather to celebrate the beautiful life and lasting legacy of Rita M. Hodge, whose light touched the hearts of all who knew her. Born on July 22, 1960, in Houston, Texas, to John and Verdie McNeal, she was the second of four children and was raised with strong values that would guide her throughout her life.
Rita was a devoted woman of faith who loved the Lord deeply. She spoke often of God’s goodness and remained a true steward of His faithfulness. Her life was a reflection of her beliefs—grounded, prayerful, and filled with quiet strength. She found comfort in her relationship with God and shared that comfort with others through her words, her presence, and her unwavering spirit.
She dedicated many years of her professional life to Morgan Stanley, where she worked faithfully and built lasting relationships with colleagues who respected her dedication and character.
Rita was a woman who valued connection. She found joy in conversation, in laughter, and in simply being present with those she loved. Her warmth could be felt by everyone who encountered her, and her ability to uplift others was a gift that will not be forgotten.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, John and Verdie McNeal, and her older brother, Eugene Bradley, and the fathers of her sons.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving Husband Robert Hodge, her sons, Cortney McNeal, Brian Diggs (Leola), and Anthony Diggs; her beloved grandchildren, Asia McNeal, Arrion McNeal, Joseph Diggs, Andrew Diggs, and Riley Diggs; her sister, Aletress McNeal; her brother, Victor McNeal (Demetria); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Rita’s presence was a blessing to all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, love, and strength will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
