Robert Mark Harris entered this life in Houston, Texas, as the oldest son of five children born to Robert Lee Harris and Ethel P. Harris. Robert graduated from Yates High School. Following graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country as a medic. After completing his military service, Robert continued his education at Texas Southern University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Business.

Robert was a hardworking man with an entrepreneurial spirit. Throughout his life, he was involved in several business ventures, including the grocery business, funeral home business, and real estate. He also dedicated 23 years of service to Houston Works before retiring.

Robert was a longtime and faithful member of Augustana Church, where he served for many years as an usher. He was also a major part of the church’s food committee, generously giving his time and helping wherever he was needed. His willingness to serve extended far beyond the church. Robert was a philanthropist at heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and others in his community.

Robert believed in hard work and enjoyed staying busy. One of his favorite pastimes was working in his yard, where he took great pride in caring for his home and surroundings. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generosity, service to others, and devotion to his family and community.

Those celebrating his life and mourning his passing include his beloved wife, Willie Mae Harris; daughter, Sonjia Preston; sister, Barbara Duncan; oldest nephew, Mark Harris; niece, Ljuba Duncan; and Go-Daughter Helen Achebe and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Also cherishing his memory are his grandchildren, Winston Preston, Kevin Preston, Sharena Banks, and Genovell Williams, along with a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Harris and Ethel P. Harris, as well as other loved ones who went before him such as Fredrick Harris, Deborah Harris, Donald Sterling, Gerrick Duncan, and Cody Harris.

Robert Mark Harris leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, hard work, generosity, entrepreneurship, and service. His willingness to help others and his dedication to those he loved will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
