Obituary

Rev. Rod (Rodney) Steiner Coleman, Sr.
Ecclesiastes 6: 1-8: To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven:

A Time-to-be-born
Rod, who was affectionately known as Rodney Coleman, was born to the late Rev. Wallace L and Mary A. Coleman on December 13, 1961, in Houston, Texas.  Rodney was your typical youngest child, being the last of four of his other siblings Wayne, Michell & Monica got to share in the experience of being the oldest to a very spoiled baby boy.  He took much pleasure in being the baby boy and wanted everyone to know his very special rank which entitled him (in his mind) to much indulgence.

Rodney was baptized at an early age and gave his life to Christ. Rodney graduated from Aldine High School in 1980 and attended Ranger College in Ranger, Tx.   He worked for more than twenty years at Houston Lighting & Power as a lineman until his retirement.  While being active in his work for Christ, Rodney attended several churches and got his calling into the ministry while at Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Danny Davis were he preached his first sermon.  Rodney later moved on to Antioch Community Church under the leadership of the last Pastor, Rev. Willie Ray Washington.  Being that the drive to church was so great for him, Rodney's final move was to Bethany Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor, Dr. Steve W. Hall.  Here Rodney served faithfully while he could until the Lord called him home.

A Time to Heal
Rodney fought demons in his lifetime. Most of us gratefully will never know such struggles, many of which he overcame by the Grace of God, even more-so after declaring his call to the Ministry.  More importantly, he was a believer in our Lord and Savior. Rodney loved the Lord and his calling to be fulfilled in spreading the word.
While on his final journey, Rodney met the everlasting love of his life, Gail Allen-Coleman where they joined in union on March 02, 2024.  Although the time was short lived, it was well enjoyed.

A Time to Die
On Wednesday, January 08, 2025, the Lord called & Rodney willfully answered.
Rodney leaves to mourn his loving and faithful wife Gail Allen – Coleman, siblings Wayne (Venita), Mithcell, Monica.  Annettee Barret (Kervin) from a previous union which produced three sons Rodney Jr. (Ana) Jeremiah & LeAndria, five grandchildren, Thalia, Asher, Marley, Rosemary & Kaeden. Two stepdaughters Pamela Smith (Jordal), Wyrita Harris, three step grandchildren Jy'Ron, Jaihlan & Jarmarrus, a niece, nephews, cousins and a host of family and friends.
