Roderick Keith Barnes was born to Winfred and Pearl Barnes on December 5, 1956, in Houston, Texas.

Roderick accepted Christ at an early age. He later joined and fellowshipped at Southeast Community Church under the leadership of Pastor Thurman H West.

He attended and graduated from Ross Shaw Sterling, Class of 1975.

His employment history was extensive, as he later followed the path lead by his parents, proudly stepping into the same line of work as his father being a jeweler and working with his mother as a Floral Manager in the family's business. He didn't just carry on a family tradition, he honored it. In his later years, Roderick was a devoted employee of Keisha's Kreations as the Warehouse Manager.

Everyone that met "Keith", as he was affectionately known, loved his quiet, sweet spirit. He was very hard working with a spirit of volunteering. He was often found volunteering his time and talents on the church's decorating team or being a humble servant for banquets and gatherings.

He is preceded in death by his father, Winfred Barnes Sr. and his niece, April Shannae' Fortner.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted mother, Pearl Barnes; one sister, Tannie Barnes Coward (Oscar) and two brothers, Winfred Jr, and Kerry Renault Barnes; two nieces, Tannae' Fortner,  Danielle Teamer (Martin) and one nephew, Desmond Fortner; two Aunts, Sealie Flood, and Louise Jackson; two Uncles, Earnest Brooks, and Mack Terrell (Cynthia); five siblings in Spirit, love and Loyalty, Shirley Parson, Porsha Revis, Cassandra Earthly, Derrick Harris (Paula), and Janice Bishop; a lifetime Best friend, J.W. Rhodes; and a host of loving family and friends.
