Obituary

On January 23, 1969, in Fort Worth, Texas , Willie and Evonne Jenkins welcomed the arrival of their baby boy. Rodney Larone Jenkins.

Rodney began his education at David K. Sellar Elementary and went on to graduate from O.D. Wyatt High School in 1987 with honors, earning the distinction of Magna Cum Laude. During his time at Wyatt, he was an active student, playing baseball and proudly serving as a member of the Chaparral Band. His pursuit of higher education led him to attend Devry Technical Institute and Prairie View A&M University.

In 1989, Rodney met and married the love of his life, Alta Mathis. From their union came the blessing of one son, Nicholas Larone Jenkins.

Rodney became a devoted member of Outreach Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized under the leadership of Pastor John Fitzgerald Foster. He faithfully served in the "Men and Boys Ministry" as well as the "Sound/Media Ministry", demonstrating his commitment to both his faith and his church community.

Rodney's career as a professional truck driver began in 1992 and continued faithfully until his health challenges in 2025 brought his journey to a close. Throughout the years, he was employed by several reputable companies, including Warner Trucking, Martin Trucking, FedEx, and KOCHE Trucking.

In, addition, Rodneys's passion for music inspired him to become a Disc Jockey. Known to many as DJ Rod, he brought joy and energy to countless weddings and special events with his talent and love for music.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His beloved son, Nicholas Larone Jenkins (Courtney); his loving mother, Evonne Jenkins; his brother, Jerald Jackson (Marla); aunt Linda Franklin, (Robert Earl); uncles; Jimmy Knowles (Mattie), Philip Knowles, Robert Knowles (Lucille), and Albert Jenkins (Alice); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who will forever love, cherish, and hold dear the precious memories they shared with him.

The final chapter in the life of our beloved  "Hero" was written on June 14, 2025.
