Ruby Lee
Grant
Dec 19, 1938 — Jul 9, 2025
Ruby Lee Stewart was born on December 19, 1938, to Abner Stewart and Daisy Hudson Stewart, two devoted and hardworking parents who raised a large, faith-filled family rooted in love, perseverance, and unity. As the youngest of fifteen siblings, Ruby's early life was shaped by the warmth of a tight-knit household and the powerful example of resilience and love demonstrated by her parents and older siblings.
The Stewart family lived in Booth, Texas, before settling at the Albert George Ranch in Crab, Texas, where Ruby was raised. It was there, surrounded by her siblings, that Ruby developed the strength, compassion, and grace that would define her throughout her life. She honored the legacy of her family through the way she lived—with integrity, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to those she loved.
Ruby Stewart Grant joined Resurrection Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Benjamin Stewart, Sr. She was an active and faithful member who served on the Pastor's Aide Committee and taught the Adult Sunday School Class.
Ruby's life was a beautiful reflection of faith, strength, and unconditional love. She touched countless hearts with her kindness and quiet wisdom. Though she is no longer with us in the physical world, her spirit and legacy remain deeply woven into the lives of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, joyfully reunited with her parents, siblings, and all those who went before her.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Abner Stewart and Daisy Hudson Stewart, and by all of her siblings: Reba Stewart Murray, J.C. (James) Stewart, Olivia Stewart Simon, Dorothy Stewart Jeffery, Earl Ethel Stewart, Freddie Leon Stewart, Shellie Stewart, Leslie
Stewart, Lonnie Stewart. Though she outlived an entire generation of her family, Ruby remained a steadfast matriarch, a living connection to her family's rich history and enduring values.
Ruby was a devoted mother to five children: Bertha Wafer, Erwin Dewayne Moore, Derwin Wayne Moore, William Henderson Moore, and Reginald Moore. Her role as a mother was one she embraced with pride and strength. She was later blessed with five grandchildren—Majorlon
Rhodes, Arthur Wafer Jr., Erwin Torrel Richmond, Daisy Wafer, and Laquitta Fanise Moore—each of whom brought great joy and fulfillment to her life. Her legacy extended further through twelve great-grandchildren: Samoree' Rhodes, Ariauna Glenn, Majorlon Rhodes Jr., Eukari Rhodes, A'jada Wafer, Jai'Den Hawkins, Precious Havies, Tre'me Rhodes, Kyliel Arceneaux, Nevaeh Haynes, Trinity Stephens, and Kingg Wafer. She took pride in each generation, cherishing the lives and accomplishments of her family.
Ruby is lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of great-great nieces, nephews, and cousins. Among her surviving relatives are one sister-in-law, Mrs. Dotsie Stewart of Shreveport, Louisiana. Each of them carries a part of her legacy forward, holding tightly to the love, lessons, and example she gave so generously.
