Sharon Lynn Henderson was born to Wilbert Protho and Thelma Henderson Jackson in Houston, Texas on February 27, 1949. She went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
She attended Douglass Elementary School, James D. Ryan Middle School and Jack Yates Senior High School (Class of 1967).
She joined Fourth Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend E.S. Branch. Sharon served faithfully as a member for over 60 years in multiple ministries. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Soprano in the Combined Adult Choir, a Drill Team Matron and a member of the Nurse Board, Mission and Christian Union. You could also find her in the church kitchen helping to serve food and making sure things were tidy and clean during special events and IMBGA.
In August 1968, Sharon started a job at WoolCo Department Store. After leaving WoolCo, she accepted a position atSakowitz in Downtown Houston. In 1985, after the closing of Sakowitz, she began working for Palais Royal. She workedat three different stores in the city, but spent the majority of her 35 years with the company at the Meyerland location until the company closed its doors in 2020. Since 2020, she worked seasonally for James Avery Jewelry. She truly dedicated herself to providing good customer service for all those she came in contact with.
Every year you could find her attending the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and dressing up in her best western wear. And it didn't matter the day or time, when you saw her, she had on a pair of pearls. She was also a good cook and baker. She took on a Christmas tradition that her mother started years ago and would give out homemade cookies and other baked goods during the holidays.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert Protho, Thelma Henderson Jackson and Allen Jackson; and three sisters, Marcia Gail Jackson, Donna Yvonne Jackson and Pamela Arleen Jackson. She leaves precious and loving memories with her baby girl, Dr. Kimberly Monique Henderson; siblings Darlene Lenell McNeil and Allen Steven Jackson (Eva); one nephew, Lonnie McNeil III (Kesha); great niece, Kaci McNeil; great nephew, Elijah McNeil; one uncle, James Orndorff (Carolyn); god daughters, Amber Brantley and LaPorch'e Benard; grand god daughter, Hunter Brantley; bonus children, Jeanette Shields- Jackson (Jay), TC Shields (Linda), Robert Shields and Carrie Davis; bonus grand and great-grandchildren; her sister friends; her other daughters; and a host of other relatives and friends.
