Obituary

Sheerie Lynn Ford was born to Dorothy and Steve Ford on February 23, 1965, in Houston, Texas. She spent her entire childhood in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Houston. She accepted Christ at a young age, being baptized at St. Francis Catholic Church and later at East Macedonia Baptist Church. She graduated high school from Barbara Jordan High School for Careers in 1983. After high school, Sheerie had a fulfilling career in banking, working at various stages of the financial industry, most recently working with Bank of New York Mellon in Downtown Houston.

Sheerie cherished being a mother to her three daughters, whom she shared with Dexter Foreman Sr. (Veronica and Victoria), and her late husband, Terrace Hewett (Vanessa), and a grandmother to her five grandchildren: Kayla, MacKenzie, Brooklynn, Vivian, and Charlie. She poured into them each individually and collectively as often as she could, attending school programs, taking trips locally and abroad, and all around being present for them when they needed her. In the last years of her life, Sheerie bravely battled multiple illnesses, never losing her faith or enthusiasm for life. She was also a proud member of the Ark of Restitution Baptist Church.

Sheerie was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Simmons (Lynn), and father, Steve Ford (Myrtle). Sheerie leaves to cherish her memories: her sister, Linda Denkins (Jerry); as well as a host of bonus siblings; three daughters: Veronica Foreman, Victoria Graham (Charles), and Vanessa Hewett; five grandchildren: Kayla, MacKenzie, Brooklynn, Vivian, and Charles (III). She is also survived by her nephew Grady Hines III and his children Diarese, Neiman, and A'Mauri; her niece Shenae Collier (Ernest) and her children Modesti and Saint; and her niece Rholanda Hines and her children Baby Biggurs-Hines (deceased), Kevin Jr., Taylor, and Trenton. She is also survived by her aunt through marriage, Carolyn Manning (Jessie), nieces through marriage, Monekia (Phyllis) and Jerrilyn, and numerous relatives and friends who hold her dear.

Sheerie's final arrangements have been entrusted to Troy B. Smith Professional Services. Her services will be held at the Ark of Restitution Baptist Church on Saturday, January 24, 2026, with a viewing at 10 a.m. and service beginning at 11 a.m. She will be buried at Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Following the graveside service, refreshments will be served at the church.
