Mrs. Stella L. Roberts Bowie was born April 26, 1949 to Roberta Hatton and Step Father Andrew Hatton, Sr. in Houston, Texas. She attended HISD School, and moved to Chicago where she gave birth to her first son Nathaniel Douglas and returned back home to her family. She worked tremendously hard to provide for her child. Stella resided in Sunny Side Texas all her life. Everyone knew her as Pooh-Pooh or Spark Plug. She never hesitated to stand her ground especially for what she believed in. She will stop at no cost to defend her children and family.
She played numerous roles as a Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Sister-n-Law, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother and Aunt. She loved playing cards, dominos, going fishing and loved being around her family and friends. Those who recognize her in Sunny Side would love her company and could count on her to smile when need to smile and be tough when needed to be tough. She was a hard worker at Bellaire Hospital and later had four more children one girl and three boys after retiring. She met the love of her life for 54 years, Mr. Henry D. Bowie. They became very successful in their tire business for 34 years.
She became ill do to liver failure. In 2016 Stella was blessed to receive a new liver from Baylor St Luke's Hospital under Doctor Gross. A team of Baylor Staff provided her with all the care and comfort she needed.
Very Special Thanks to Dr. Vani Potluri, Dr. Paige, Fairnholt and staff. Must recognize her transportation team Mrs. Janice, Mrs. Hattie, her nurse Ms. Pam Home Health Care Nurse Ms. Beatrice and Evengle Health Care who worked with her throughout these years.
On April 7 God called His angel home. She was preceded in death by both her parents Roberta and Andrew Hatton, Sr., her sister Evlina Hatton, brother Andrew Hatton, Jr., her grandson Carlton Talbert, daughter Patricia Roberts, son Oscar Roberts, Aunt Dora Lee Bolton, Best Buddy Peter & James Bowie two nieces Debra and Reunite Bowie. She is survived by her husband Henry D. Bowie, her children Nathaniel Douglas (Tywanna), Louis (Henrietta), Rashaan (Drucilla), Henry Jr, Lee Alvin, Tena and Henrietta Bowie. Her grandchildren La'Kiesha, Tamira, Nathan Jr, Brittany, Dante, Isreal, Jusiah, Traylon, Lonzae, Jamrioun, Patrick, Lovely, Ashley, Tyrone, Robert, Damon, LaTanya, Johnathan, Dantae, Lil Lee Alvin, Cresha, Corsica, Claries, Jaylea, Kevin, KeVontae, Amber, Lil John, Johniesha, Cristina, sisters Martha-Ann Fletcher, Christine Hatton (Cricket), brothers James Douglas and Gilbert, Sister-n-Law Patricia Hatton, Best Friends Prenise Howard and Brenda Summons. Special niece and nephew Kimberly Sitton and Danny Johnson, and host of Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
