Obituary

Tanique (Nikki) Taiwan Taylor Evans was born on September 1, 1973 in Corpus Christi, Texas to proud parents Wanda F. Griffin and Donald (Jake) Ray Taylor. Tanique accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Taylor, Texas. Her early years were spent in various parts of Taylor and Austin, Texas. She graduated from Reagan High School in 1991, where she was active in many extracurriculars including, a twirler in the marching band, a drill team member, and a cheerleader. Tanique went on to attend Sam Houston State University where she was inducted into the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Theta Epsilon Chapter. During her time at Sam Houston State, she was runner-up for the 'Ms. Black & Gold' Pageant sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, inducted into the 'Who's Who of College Students' and presented as a Debutante by the Ladies of Camellia Society, in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1995, she would go on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Radio, Television & Film. Initially, her goal was to pursue a career as a meteorologist, though, she decided to go into marketing, in which she excelled. Tanique would go on to meet her husband, Bryant Evans, in 1997 while working for the Wyndham Hotel chain. Tanique and Bryant were married May 6, 2000. To this union, 2 children, Taylour and Baileigh were born and they were the loves of her life. She was a brilliant business woman, an exemplary wife and mother. Tanique was admired and inspired others around her and will be truly missed.

Tanique was preceded in death by her Maternal grandparents: Jessie Sr. and Lue Venia Griffin; Paternal grandparents: Jeff and Jorene Taylor; Uncle: Jerry L. Griffin Sr.; Aunt: Katherine Taylor; and Father-In-Law:  David Stevenson.

Left to cherish Tanique's memory are her husband and children: Bryant, Taylour, and Baileigh Evans; Mother: Wanda F. Griffin; Father: Donald Taylor (Karen); Mother-In-Law: Eva Stevenson; Sister: Vaneese Bell; Brother: Jason Wallace; Aunts:  Gwendolyn L. Griffin, Dora M. Griffin, Jewel Griffin-Drinkard (Michael), Debra J.Griffin, Kathleen Southall, Jeffry Lee Taylor Tasby, Kimberly Taylor Jones;  Uncles: Rev. Jesse J. Griffin Jr. (Linda), Superintendent Johnny Taylor, Tony Taylor; Sisters-In-Law: Shretta Brown (Byron), Nina Cannon (Derrick); Brother-In-Law: Chris Evans; Favorite Cousin:  Brian M. Winn (Sherry);  Best Friends: Trina Parks and Brian Willery, and a host of cousins and friends.
