Tobie Benjamin Ross III was born on October 20, 1963, to Tobie Benjamin Ross Jr. and Judy Mae Lewis (deceased) in Houston, Texas. He confessed Christ at an early age. Friends and family knew him as being called "Ben".  He attended Jack Yates High School.

Tobie Benjamin Ross III departed this life on July 16, 2025.  He leaves to cherish his memories a son Dennis Eckford, a brother Ronald Wayne Ross, father Tobie Benjamin Ross, Jr., stepmother Gayle Ross and Aunties Rose Marie "Rita" Hardin, Lois Butler, Imogene Gunter and Lavonne Paige. And a host of other relatives and friends.
