Tommy Lee Law, a man of strength, humor, and unwavering kindness, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love that will endure for generations. Born on November 29, 1941, in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, Tommy was the beloved son of Emmanuel and Rosie B. Law. He was the second of two boys and was preceded in death by his brother, Emmanuel Law, Jr.
Seeking opportunity and a better quality of life, Tommy made his way to Houston, Texas, where he would build not only a life, but a lasting impact on all who knew him. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Kathleen Jacobs. Their union, spanning over 63 beautiful years, was a testament to enduring love, faith, and partnership. Together, they raised their family and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support.
To this union were born two cherished daughters, Vanessa and Kelly, who were the pride and joy of his life. He also embraced his daughter Veronica Jones with love and care. Tommy’s role as a father extended beyond provision—he was a steady presence, a source of wisdom, and a loving protector.
Tommy dedicated many years of service to the Texas Medical Center, working in the Environmental Services Department. Even after retirement, his strong work ethic and desire to stay active led him back into the workforce, where he served as a crossing guard with the Houston Independent School District. In that role, he continued to protect and care for others—especially children—reflecting his lifelong commitment to community and service.
Raised in the Baptist faith, Tommy later joined his wife in the Catholic Church, where they faithfully worshipped and served together for many years. They found a spiritual home at Holy Family Catholic Church, where Tommy remained a devoted and active member until his passing.
Tommy found joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life. He loved to cook and was especially known for his BBQ, often bringing people together over good food, laughter, and his unforgettable sense of humor. He was very funny and always cracking jokes, keeping those around him smiling and lifting the spirit of any room he entered. He treasured time spent with family and friends, creating countless memories as a father and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling and took every opportunity to be surrounded by those he loved most.
In his younger years, Tommy took pride in maintaining his yard, a reflection of his care and dedication. As time passed, he graciously allowed others to assist, just as he had spent a lifetime helping those around him.
He will be remembered as a lovable, kind, and gentle man with a joyful spirit. Tommy had a servant’s heart—always willing to lend a helping hand, always ready to give, and never hesitating to support others. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of belonging to everyone he met.
Tommy leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 63 years, Kathleen Law; his daughters Veronica Jones, Vanessa Sutton (Reginald), and Kelly; and his three beloved granddaughters, Talilah, Marisha, and Esther Hannah. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and love.
Though he has departed from this earthly life, Tommy’s legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
