Valarie Antoinette
Moore
Apr 2, 1970 — Mar 18, 2025
Valarie Antoinette Moore was born in Houston, TX, on April 2, 1970. She was the second born to Joseph and Dorothy Moore.
"Val", as she was affectionately known, accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. John Missionary Baptist Church on Gray Avenue under the leadership of the late Rev. C.B. West. Val attended Pickwickian Elementary, Cornelius Elementary, Hartman Junior High, & graduated from Barbara Jordan High School for Careers. Valarie furthered her education by attending Houston Community College, University of Houston-Downtown, & Houston Baptist University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts, graduating Cum Laude. She pursued her advanced studies and earned her Master of Education. Later, she channeled her love for education into her career as an Educator. Throughout her career, she taught at various schools in the Houston Independent School District. Her final teaching years were at Jack Yates High School as a special education instructor.
She had a deep, unconditional love for special education and her students. Her deep love guided her to become the department chair of Special Education (Turner Elementary School) and to coordinate the Special Olympics (Yates HS). Val's passion for special education motivated her to establish a non-profit organization: Hand Over Hand. She and her business partner were working to fully develop an adult transitional center. Valarie was also in pursuit of gaining her Doctoral degree, PhD., until her health began to decline.
She, along with her family, were faithful members of New Faith Church since September of 1990 under the leadership of Dr. T.R. Williams. Valarie was a faithful member of the Music Ministry and the Singles Ministry. She briefly moved her membership to Higher Dimension Church under the leadership of Rev. Terrance Johnson, faithfully serving on the praise team, "Tribe of Judah". Valarie returned her membership to New Faith Church and remained a faithful member under the current leadership of Dr. Andre J. Lewis.
Valarie cherished her beloved daughter, Khourtni Allyse Moore. She devoted herself to instilling in Khourtni the values of faith and family, ensuring that Christ remained at the center of her life. Above all, Khourtni was Valarie's greatest joy and treasured blessing!
Valarie's love for Christ and love for people was unwavering, she never met a stranger. With a humble spirit, she embodied grace and effortlessly made everyone feel welcome. Val had several hobbies, including singing, cooking, and entertaining family and friends. She was even an assistant volleyball coach (Yates HS). She was never afraid to insert herself or try new things. Her mere presence was impactful in so many ways.
Early Tuesday morning on March 18th, the Lord called her home to be in perfect peace with Him, completely healed and restored. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dorothy Moore, her siblings: Baby girl Moore (stillborn), Iris F. Vann, and Joseph "Mike" Moore. Valarie leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Khourtni Allyse Moore, her sisters: Brenda K. Dorsey (Adrian), Terri D.
