Vesheeta Rena Smith was born August 19, 1960, in Beaumont, TX, to Edward Lee and Lillie Beasley.

In her youth, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a devoted member of Galilee Baptist Church. She ran on the track team at the Devers Junior High and excelled academically through college. After graduating Lamar University in 1980, she relocated to Long Beach, CA, building lasting friendships and memories with her family.

In 1989, Rena moved to 0Houston and began volunteering at Dodson Elementary School. This opportunity was instrumental for her position with Project Grad USA. She was a devoted member and praise leader at Last Day Revival Church under the leadership of Elder E. Robins. In August 1999, Vesheeta married Raymond Smith.

In January 2010 Rena became a member of Windsor Village UMC where she loved to serve as a volunteer with Envisioned Sound Ministry.

Rena is proceeded in death by her husband Raymond Smith, parents Edward and Lillie Beasley, brother Rodney Beasley, and sister Julie Beasley Gregory.

She is survived by children: Donald Cogman, Quaylon Beckley, Melissa Chatman, Clara Smith; Stepson: Raymond Walker Jr. and Grandson, Zayden Brown.

Sisters: Bettie Jean Beasley and Finnettia Garner

Brothers: Charles Beasley, Gerald Wayne Beasley, Harold Beasley, and Edward Beasley Jr.

Florine Beasley – Aunt (Dallas, TX), Luther Washington-Uncle (Long Beach, CA) along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
