Wanda Faye Denley was born to Marilyn Denley and Tye Whitehead, Jr. on November 17, 1962.  She attended school in the Houston Independent School District and graduated from Jack Yates High School in 1982.  Wanda was cherished by her family, close friends, and all who came to know her.

Wanda accepted Christ at an early age and held on to Him to the day of her passing.  She loved the Lord, and she loved God's people.

Her love for helping and nurturing others was shown by her commitment to her job at The Lighthouse of Houston, where she worked for 18 years providing care to the deaf and blind.

She is preceded in death by her parents Marilyn Denley and Tye Whitehead, Jr., (brother) Tyrone Whitehead, (bonus daughter) Yosheca Wilborn, and (grandson) Melvin Merriweather, Jr. (Fatdaddy).

On Saturday afternoon, December 2, 2023, God looked down and decided her destiny had been fulfilled on earth and it was time to take her rightful place by His side.  She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory forever with (daughter) Lawanda Denise Denley-Womack (Xavier); (brothers) Campbell Denley, Jr. (Evelyn), Robert Charles Denley, Jessie Denley, Timothy Whitehead, William Whitehead, Tyza Whitehead, and Keith Whitehead (Debra); (sister) Christian Douglas (Charles).  She also leaves behind (granddaughter) Derneisha Harris; (Godson) Henry Bougere, and (son) Chaz McNulty.  She will rest in the memory of her devoted friend Tad Isom; (best friends) Maurice Allen, Sharron (Jelly) Jones, Lanie Womack, Vicki Ahl, and Phyllis Roquemore.  Lastly, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Wanda will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
