Willie Lee
Davis
Jun 2, 1942 — Sep 29, 2024
Willie Lee Davis was born on June 2, 1942 to the parents of Arthur Destin Sr. and Luetter Anderson Destin in Morrow, Louisiana.
She moved to Barrett Station, Texas in her early teens and graduated from Charles R. Drew High School. She later attended Texas Southern University.
On January 22, 1966, Willie married the love of her life, Walter Davis. This union produced two children: Melvin and LaTanya. She was a faithful and devoted wife to Walter until his passing on November 21, 2012.
Willie professed her love and belief in Christ at an early age. Prior to her marriage to Walter, Willie joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend N.C. Crain. When Walter was ordained as a Deacon, Willie accepted and served as a dedicated Deaconess until her passing. Willie was employed by the United States Postal Service. She often refused to miss work during heavy rain and flooding because she didn't want to be "AWOL" as she explained to her family. Willie retired in 2017, after 43 years of service.
On Sunday, September 29, 2024, Willie Davis was called home to be with her savior. Willie was preceded in death by her husband Walter Davis; maternal grandparents Leonard and Ealer Anderson; paternal grandparents Prosper and Celestine Destin; parents Arthur Destin Sr. and Luetter Anderson Destin: three brothers Robert Clarence Destin Sr., Arthur Destin Jr. and Paul Destin Sr.; three sisters Addie Pearl Destin. Ealer Johnson, and Emma Jean Reed.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, son Melvin; daughter LaTanya; granddaughter Harmony; two sisters Louise Johnson of Houston, Texas and Beatrice Williams of Tomball, Texas; one sister in law Ethel Destin of Crosby, Texas; best friend Rita Henderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
