Willie Jones Jr

Willie Jones, Jr., was a devoted husband and father. He departed this life to go home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2026. He was born in Palestine, Texas on January 1, 1935, to the union of Willie Jones, Sr., and Mahalie Jackson.

He moved to Houston, Texas where he attended Jack Yates High School. He later met and married Cherry Mae Branch, November 16, 1956. They were blessed with five children, which included two sets of twins. He was employed for 20 years at FH Maloney Company as a receiving clerk. He later became a truck driver for 15 years at Montalbano Lumber Company.

He joined Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a faithful member for over 50 years. He sang in the choir, served on the finance team and was a Deacon for many years until his health declined.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cherry Mae Jones, his parents, Willie Jones, Sr., and Mahalie Jackson, siblings, Brenda, Timothy, Donna Kay, Charles, John, Danny, Rocky, Ricky, Rodney and Larry. Surviving siblings, Judy, Cathy, Christal, Cynthia, Shirley, Kirk and Adrain.

He leaves to mourn his passing his loving children, Lambert (Denese), Terri (Debra), Cherri, Debra, and Donnie; grandchildren, Taiwan, Lachaundra (Keith), Quentin (Latoya), Justin, DeEbonie (Teghese), Tiara, Ashly, Ashton (Bre’Andrea); great grandchildren, Tristan, Jada, Alayah, Peyton, Ronald III, Prestin, Lynden, Lennox, Bryce, Aidan, Braeden, and Autumn. He will be remembered and loved by a host of other relatives and friends.
