Obituary

Willie Belle White McMearn, lovingly known as Belle, was born as the third of six children to Rand and Maude White. Her journey began in Alexandria, Louisiana, where she attended public schools and later pursued higher education at Grambling College. In 1957, she earned a degree in elementary education, marking the start of her lifelong commitment to teaching and learning.

Belle's career as an educator began in the Rapides Parish School District, where she taught for five years. During this time, she found the love of her life, Aaron (Mac) McMearn. They were united in holy matrimony in 1959, embarking on a beautiful journey together.

In 1961, Belle joined Aaron in Japan, where he was stationed with the United States Air Force. It was there that they welcomed two of their three daughters into the world. As a dedicated military wife, Belle adapted to life in various locations before the family finally settled in Houston, Texas, in 1974 following Aaron's retirement.

In Houston, Belle continued her passion for teaching, spending 25 years at Smith Elementary in the Alief Independent School District. She retired in 2000, leaving behind a legacy of countless young minds inspired by her love for education. Belle's commitment to her students was evident in the success of her 4th-grade science and math classes.

Belle's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted member of Riceville Baptist Church and the Riceville Christian Union, where she found joy and fellowship. Beyond her professional and spiritual commitments, Belle had a zest for life that shone through her love of shopping. She cherished the moments spent with friends, turning trips to Loehmann's and Tuesday Morning into joyous events.

Belle leaves behind a loving husband of 65 years, Aaron (Mac) McMearn; her daughters, Dina McMearn (Craig Smith) and Dee Webb (Dexter Webb); three cherished grandchildren, Erin, Francis, and Dexter Jr.; her sister, Barbara Dixon; her brother, William Joe White; and numerous nieces, nephews, kindred loved ones, and friends.

A void has been left that cannot be filled, but Belle's legacy of love, dedication, and joy will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her. Her spirit lives on, inspiring all who had the privilege of sharing in her remarkable journey.
