Obituary

Wilma Fayola (Marshall) Gibbs was born on September 27, 1942, in Old Washington, Texas, the fourth of
eleven children born to Henry and Prudie Marshall.

She received her education in public school attending Pickard High School in Brenham, TX, graduating in
1961. Once she moved to Houston, she later attended Massey Business School. Wilma worked at Gibbs
Construction, Sears & Roebuck in Customer Service and later worked for Coastal State Gas in the

Wilma accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Old
Washington, Texas. Later she joined Mt. Hebron Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.J.
Roberson and then Dr. Max A. Miller, Jr. where she worshipped and was a faithful member.

On May 25, 1963, Wilma married Maurice Gibbs, the love of her life, in which she was introduced by her
future father-in-law L.B. Gibbs while working at Gibbs Construction. To this union three daughters were
born.

Wilma enjoyed having long telephone calls with family and friends. Upon request, she would even cook
