Leanna Stoot Pickney was born March 5, 1931, to the proud parents of Amos and Cornelia Comeaux Stoot in Leonville, Louisiana. She was lovingly reared in the Catholic Faith from an early age. She attended school in Leonville, LA. Leanna married Edward Pickney, Sr., and they moved to Houston, Texas in 1954. To this union five children were born: Amanda Gail Pickney, Lee Eastha Rhodes, twins Elizabeth Anderson and Edward Pickney, Jr., and Cornelia Denise Pickney, all of Houston, Texas. While working as a housekeeper, she attended Franklin Beauty School in Houston. She graduated and became an entrepreneur in the field of Cosmetology. Throughout her Cosmetology career, she serviced many loyal clients, relatives and friends. She retired at the age of 75. Leanna had a love and passion for her relationship with Christ, her family and sports. Her love for family was expressed through her many years of sacrifice. In following the belief of her mother, Cornelia Comeaux Stoot, she truly believed family should stick together no matter what the circumstances. Leanna is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Pickney, Sr.,; granddaughter, Carmelia Deshawn Pickney; sisters, Louise Stoot Galaway, Rose Stoot Tezeno; brother, Sidney Stout. Mourning Leanna's transition, yet cherishing her precious memories are her five children: Amanda, Lee, Elizabeth, Edward and Cornelia, all of Houston, TX. Seven grandchildren: Corey Anderson (aka Mini Nut), Aisha Pigg, Tamara T. Rhodes (aka Dark & Lovely), Wiley C. Rhodes, Jr. (Candace), Deandra Moshay (Milton), Keira S. Pickney, and Lakeisha D. Battle, all of Houston, TX. Seven great-grandchildren: JaCorey Nathaniel Anderson, Tamia Edwards, Raven Anderson, Corey Anderson, Jr. (Buckwheat), Cameron Frank, twins, Paige and Payton Frank, all of Houston, TX. Six sisters: Lucille Stoot Morris, Agnes Stoot Wilson of Houston, TX. Cornelia Stoot, Clara Stoot Robbins of Opelousas, LA, Ruth Stoot Bobb, and Christine Stoot, of Houston, TX. Three brothers, Lawrence Stoot of Houston, TX, Wilbert Stout (Shirley) of Opelousas, LA, and Rodney Stoot of Houston, TX. Three Godchildren: Christine Stoot, Michelle Jones Green, and Ashelynn M. Clark, all of Houston, TX. Special friends, Leona Joseph, Sara Brooks, Helen Garrett and Lois Hamilton, all of Houston, TX.
